Air Malta is the national airline of Malta, which was founded in 1973. The airline operates flights to various destinations in Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. Its main hub is at Malta International Airport.
Air Malta started with a fleet of three Boeing 720Bs and has since expanded its fleet to include Airbus A319s, A320s, and A320neos. The airline offers three classes of service: Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class.
In 2019, Air Malta carried over 1.8 million passengers and had a workforce of around 1,200 employees. The airline has faced some financial challenges over the years, but has been able to turn its fortunes around in recent times. In 2018, the airline reported a profit of €1.2 million, which was the first time it had made a profit in almost two decades.
Air Malta has also been recognized for its customer service and was awarded the Best Regional Airline award at the 2018 Skytrax World Airline Awards. The airline has codeshare agreements with several airlines including Alitalia, KLM, and Emirates.
